I use this to transmit music from my ipad to my stereo and it works well. It's a little tricky setting up several devices. I believe they say you should have line of sight but I have the bluetooth on the floor upstairs from where I use my ipad and it works OK (seems to transmit through the ceiling and floor OK). It works best when directly below and OK if I go 15 feet but drops off after that. I keep in simple by just using the ipad. Sometimes I have to re-establish the connection using ipad settings but that's pretty easy.
This does work great - if it is less than two feet away. I could run a cable for a lot less money and time. It a pain to try to set up, and when I called Sony for help, I was told to read the manual.
Will not function very well if right nest to wireless LAN router. Not ideal for college dorm room it you have a wireless router in your room as well.
The input/power source were pretty straight forward.Once I had all of the proper drivers on my laptop [automatically] installed, I now have my Sony Vaio laptop and PalmPre (not at the same time, of course) streaming music to my Pioneer Elite receiver. Before I use to listen to my laptop through my receiver using a standard Y-Cable (RCA) to the headphone input on the laptop. I rarely write a review for products - good or bad. Now I can listen with no wires. This device is so great though, I had to be fair.I have to admit I'm a tech dork and it still took me some time to figure out how to use this product. However, it was more getting my laptop to pair with the device than the device myself. It's great for when you have people over and have music streaming through your laptop, away and in the corner.Get it, figure out how to use it properly (syncing/pairing it) and enjoy.
This unit is small, and has a nice wall-power attachment, trouble is it doesn't work. Unit pairs up with some fuss, but it doesn't remember the pairing, so you have to go through the pairing process every time you turn it on. It also doesn't have enough volume to be heard, so you have to crank up the volume on your headphones or whatever. It went back, and was replaced by an easy to use Motorola.Don't waste your time with this one.
